Symbolized Power

I wanted to do a front facing, symmetrical piece to show the aggression of the animal with more directness. The sunset background, the colors of the horn and ears, and rich grassland are meant to resemble the beautiful savanna where rhinos live. I made the horn look like a shiny gem to show how valuable it is, to highlight where most of the power of the rhino lies, and why this animal is so sought after by poachers. The javelin is often used as a hunting weapon so I instead decided to make it represent the rhino’s potential as it is arcing up into the sky along with the horn.
